Our culture has gone from kind and courteous to loud and derogatory. Schools are filled with bullies wielding sneering words. News programs have two sides yelling at each other. People standing on opposite sides of the street, political aisles and church sanctuaries tearing the other side down based simply on the fact that we do not always see eye to eye. Even families are torn down and torn apart with the words we use inside and outside the home. Is there any hope? Can anything be done to take us back to what almost seems like a parallel universe of care and compassion? Actually there is, and it starts with how we use our words on a daily basis. A new sermon series at Parkview, starting September 23, will help us all learn to Speak Life into those that we are around daily.
